Dr Colleen Thomas is an art historian specializing in the monumental sculpture of early medieval Ireland and Britain with a secondary interest in nineteenth-century medievalisms. She is currently working on a monograph about the images of hermits on early medieval stone crosses to be published by Brepols and has been awarded a short-term fellowship by the American Research Center in Egypt to conduct comparative analysis of the visual culture for eremitic practice in Ireland and Egypt in 2022. In addition to her scholarship, Dr Thomas has significant experience as a project and event manager, having been part of leadership teams organizing multi-day events for up to 30,000 attendees. More recently, Dr Thomas has worked in research management and is at present the UCD Research Culture Project Manager, tasked with delivering the pilot phase for a key pillar of the university’s research strategy.
