Statutes and Bye-laws_revised_Jan2021

In the late 1980s the Statutes and Bye-Laws of the Society were amended and were ratified by the members at a General Meeting held on 8 December 1988.  The revised Statutes and Bye-Laws were printed in the Journal for 1988 (pages 184-7).

These revised Statutes and Bye-Laws could not cope with Covid-19 in two instances.

It is proposed that minor changes be made to the wording of two clauses.  The proposed changes are as follows:

CLAUSE 12 – The Council

… The Council shall meet at least eight times in each year. …

… The Council shall meet at least eight times in each year (when possible). …

CLAUSE 22 – Meetings of the Society

The Society shall meet at least eight times in each year …

The Society shall meet at least eight times in each year … (when possible)

In the years since 1988 the Society has adhered to a minimum of eight meetings of Council and the Society each year.  It is not envisaged, post Covid-19, that this minimum number of meetings of Council and the Society will change.
